I've been spending some time in Brazil doing some classes at the Miami Ad School in São Paulo and this past holiday i went away with a couple of friends to a town nearby called Itatiba where a friend has some property there. This is the sunrise as we arrived:

Another city for me to fall in love with

When I was told that São Paulo is the "New York of Brasil" I thought I knew what to expect but I haven't even been here a full 24 hours and I'm already overwhelmed (in a good way). I'm staying with my mother's aunt who is a psychologist and owns a pilates studio in the city and she's the "cool"aunt who's traveled all over the world and has a hard-cover copy of the Kama Sutra on the living room coffee table. Basically it's the 3rd(?) biggest city in the world and I'm seriously considering coming to live here at the end of the year for school. Pictures soon to follow. Tchau!

UH-MAY-ZING

Went to go see Fuerza Bruta tonight with the brother and it was absolutely amazing. This goes way beyond audience participation in a show. During the entire show everyone is standing and the stages are platforms that move around the audience so at any point in the show you are pretty much front row center. At one point a giant tarp filled with water decends over your head and lowers so close you can touch it as people slide across. Pretty awesome.

i'm a modern mermaid

so, this is an excerpt from my favorite book as a child called “If I Were in Charge of the World: and Other Worries” and it’s a collection of short stories and poems written in the perspective of children. my favorite chapter is called fairy tales and provides alternate endings to some of my favorite fairy tales such as this one [my fav, and possibly the reason for my realist romanticism]:

i left the castle of my mer-king father,

i always hate the ending to this story:

but i have some advice for modern mermaids
